About Us
Conscious Food, based in Mumbai, is one of the leading organic food companies in India. Over the last ten years they have developed and nurtured relationships with numerous small organic farms and communities throughout the subcontinent, ensuring a high level of quality and fair trade. Several of the farms are part of organic collectives which directly benefit the community as a whole through supporting schools for the poor, women’s rights, animal welfare, etc.

Conscious Food produces a range of delicious staples using ingredients such as brown rice, pulses, millet, flours, herbs and spices and have, over the years, developed and nurtured relationships with numerous.

In 2006 Kristina Locke discovered Conscious Food’s range of snacks whilst on a trip to India and was so impressed to find healthy gluten and dairy free nibbles that tasted good that she brought them to Europe for us all to enjoy over here.

Best of all, because they’re fair trade and good for you they’re entirely guilt free too.

We are initially bringing you Power Snacks, our range of sweet and savoury snacks, but will follow in the coming months with some of our staples, including our unique range of gluten free flours.

Why ‘Conscious’?
  • At Conscious Food we aim to provide the highest quality of food in as natural form as possible, enhancing the health and quality of life for as many people as possible.
  • We fully encourage and support the small farmer, sustaining and improving his lifestyle and vow to trade fairly to benefit the farming communities in India.
  • We promise to create a ‘Conscious Family’ of employees and nurture and empower them to fulfil their highest potential.
  • We are creating the Conscious Foundation, which will plough 10% of all our profits back into community projects in India that promote sustainable development.
  • Right now though it’s early days and we’re working towards tightening up our environmental policy; aside from our ingredients being fairly traded, we only use recycled paper in all our materials and our inner plastic is completely biodegradable.
  • Although we are not ‘officially’ certified organic in the UK, none of our ingredients have been sprayed with chemicals or pesticides.
  • Because most of the farms in India are small, it can be difficult and expensive to obtain organic certification; however it is something we are working hard to get. Although this shortens the shelf life, we think you’ll appreciate that our products are free from additives, preservatives, baking agents and artificial sweeteners.
  • We also intend to be carbon neutral by the end of the year. Because we love it, we’re passionate, and genuinely believe in what we do.
  • Because all our products are made with love.
  • Because we believe in nurturing and respecting the earth, helping to provide the people who grow our ingredients with health and happiness.
  • Because we believe in providing the highest quality products possible.
  • Because everyone involved both here in the UK and in India believes in our core values.
  • Because we promise to operate with honesty, integrity and fairness in everything we do.
  • Because we know that great tasting food doesn’t have to be bad for you, or the planet.
  • We also intend to be carbon neutral by the end of the year.
  • Because we love it, we're passionate, and genuinely believe in what we do.
